Jessica and Joab live in Kijabe, Kenya, and work with BethanyKids.  BethanyKids is a compassionate Christian mission transforming the lives of African children with surgical conditions and disabilities through pediatric surgery, rehabilitation, public education, spiritual ministry and training health professionals.  Jessica is an Occupational Therapist and her role is to work alongside the Kenyan therapy staff at BethanyKids in a Special Education School setting and with the Mobile Clinic team which travels across Kenya to provide quality, holistic medical services.  In addition to direct Occupational Therapy services with the children, she focuses on empowering the local communities through networking, education, advocacy, and mentorship programs.  Joab is the manager of BethanyKids' assistive technology program.  He travels around Kenya with his team of physiotherapists, wheelchair technicians and a spiritual mentor.  They provide quality and appropriate wheelchairs and other assistive devices to children with disabilities.  Kenya has a significant shortage of appropriate health services for persons living with disabilities. Today, 1 in 7 people live with a disability, making them the world’s largest minority, and only 2% have access to therapy or education.  Jessica and Joab's passion is for creating inclusive communities where persons with disabilities are seen as valued children of God with meaningful and unique roles to play in their communities.
