Rocky and Chelsea are from Marshall, Michigan. Married since 2008, they are the proud parents of three sons and a daughter. Their lives took a profound turn in 2011 when they hosted a traveling children's choir that supported orphans in Uganda. After hearing the children's stories and forming connections, they felt compelled to travel to Uganda to serve. Their first trip took place in the summer of 2011, and upon returning, they sensed a divine calling to do more. Over the following years, they collaborated with friends in Uganda on various projects.
Currently, Rocky works in the U.S. as a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Therapist. He is gaining valuable experience to better prepare him for their mission. At the beginning of 2026, they plan to return to Uganda full-time.
Their mission is to support individuals in Uganda struggling with substance abuse by breaking down barriers within the church, promoting acceptance and compassion, and sharing the gospel in rehabilitation centers. They seek to bring hope, healing, and transformation through Christ’s love, leveraging their experiences in recovery and mental health to empower others toward lasting change.
Substance abuse support is a deeply personal cause for them, as Rocky is a recovering alcoholic who has been sober since June 2007, thanks to God’s grace. He has gained experience in substance abuse recovery through both his education and professional background, holding a Master’s in Social Work, a certificate in Recovery Coaching and is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
In Uganda, there is currently a significant lack of education and support for those struggling with substance abuse. With Rocky’s expertise in mental health and substance abuse, combined with Chelsea’s background in Family Life Education and Administration, they make a great team!
Their ultimate dream is to establish a recovery support center dedicated to helping individuals dealing with substance abuse and come to know Jesus personally.
